Mephibosheth, a lesser-known character in the Bible, is the son of Jonathan and the grandson of Saul, the first king of Israel. At the age of 5, his father and grandfather die in battle, and his nanny, trying to save him, releases him from her arms, after which he is no longer able to walk.
But the story of Mephibosheth does not end here. Many years later, after he becomes king in Israel, David looks for him and brings him to his table, the king’s table.
We also believe that regardless of how we look and regardless of the imperfections in our lives, each of us has a place at the table of the Great King, Jesus Christ. He expects us to go and cast all our cares upon Him, and then take a seat at the King’s Table.

Lyrics
My dear friends, I’d like to share
The story of my life
My name is Mephibosheth
And I’m all by myself
My father used to be a prince
Now everything is lost
Today I cannot even walk
My dreams have turned to dust
But then, behold, there came a day
When my life was transformed
As I was summoned by the king
My master and my lord
I’m sitting here, I can’t believe
I’m at the table of the King
He called my name with so much love
My joy’s unspoken now
I didn’t know if i should speak
If i should bow, or stand, or peek
Now there is hope for me as well
Mephibosheth
My dear friends, the big day came
They took me and they dressed me up
And then King David took my shame
And with great joy he spoke to me
This is my home, I welcome you
This is where you belong
I want to show you grace and love,
The goodness of our Lord
I’m sitting here, I can’t believe
I’m at the table of the King
He called my name with so much love
My joy’s unspoken now
I didn’t know if i should speak
If i should bow, or stand, or peek
Now there is hope for me as well
Mephibosheth
Dear children, we are called to join
Our good King at His feast
And He would like us all to know that
“No matter our looks or imperfections, every single one of us has a seat at the table of our great King, Jesus Christ. He calls each and every one of us and offers to carry all our worries so that we can then have a seat at His table.”
