The story of Ruth

Naomi and Elimelech choose to leave Israel for a better life in Moab. Their sons marry Moabite women, Orpah and Ruth. However, within a few years, Naomi is left alone with her two daughters-in-law after the death of her husband and sons. Ruth chooses to follow Naomi when she returns to Israel. There, her character catches the attention of Boaz, who uses his right of redemption to marry her. In God’s sovereignty, Ruth becomes the great-grandmother of King David, and many years later, from her line, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, is born.

Episode 1 – Shattered dreams

Once upon a time, there was a young and beautiful girl who had her whole life ahead of her. Her name was Ruth, and she lived in the land of Moab. She met a boy named Mahlon, who had come to Moab with his family from Israel, and she fell in love with him, eventually becoming his wife! Naomi, Mahlon’s mother, along with her daughters-in-law, Ruth and Orpah, experienced a great tragedy, as they all became widows. Because they were widowed in a foreign land, Naomi chose to return to her homeland, Israel, and she was followed by Ruth, one of her daughters-in-law.

Episode 2 – Gathering grain

Once in Israel, Ruth and Naomi face challenges and hardships. Being widows, life is not easy for them, and their social status is precarious. However, Ruth chooses not to be discouraged and ensures her livelihood through honest work. She goes to glean leftover grain from the harvest, demonstrating her commitment to Naomi and her determination to do everything possible to support her. While performing this work, Ruth is noticed by Boaz.

Episode 3 – Happily ever after

Ruth and Boaz get married. God blesses them with a son, Obed, who will be the grandfather of King David of Israel, and later even Jesus, the Savior of the world. As our song inspired by Ruth’s life says, who would have thought that from a simple Moabite girl, the Lord Jesus Christ would come?
